This intensely aromatic wine sings from the glass with the perfumeof ripe blackberry, wild raspberries, roasted plums, dark chocolate,Christmas fruitcake, charcoal, wet stone and the exotic hint ofsandalwood. Sweet, lush fruit explodes on the palate. Concentratedand gripping yet ethereal and elegant. The wine’s expansive flavorprofile delivers lush layers, firm yet silky tannins and a monumentalfinish. The winery’s top lots were culled out for the 2012 Kashmir (100% Cabernet Sauvignon). Sadly, only six barrels were made of this quintessential North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Its inky/black/purple color is accompanied by a stunning perfume of charcoal, lead pencil shavings, blackberries and new oak. Full-bodied with beautiful purity and symmetry as well as a multidimensional mouthfeel, this stupendous 2012 red wine can be drunk over the next 15-20 years.

This is insanely dense yet agile and subtle with cashmere texture and sexy fruit. Full body, blackberry, blueberry and orange peel undertones. Chocolate too. Long finish. Glorious wine. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Kamen Estate Winery Image
In 1980, Robert Kamen, a native New Yorker, purchased 280 acres on the southwestern slopes of the Mayacamas Range in Sonoma County. This mountainous property was rugged, overgrown, extremely rocky and very remote: virgin territory with no roads and no power. It was isolated, wild, beautiful and full of potential. From the beginning, Robert had a clear concept of what he intended for his property. First and foremost was the desire to plant the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.

Sonoma County, California

Perhaps the most historically significant appellation in Sonoma County, the Sonoma Valley is home to both Buena Vista winery, California's oldest commercial winery, and Gundlach Bundschu winery, California's oldest family-run winery.

It is also one of the more geologically and climactically diverse districts. The valley includes and overlaps four distinct Sonoma County sub-appellations, including Carneros, Moon Mountain District, Sonoma Mountain and Bennett Valley. With mountains, benchlands, plains, abundant sunshine and the cooling effects of the nearby Pacific, this appellation can successfully produce a wide range of grape varieties. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, and most notably, Zinfandel all thrive here. Ancient Zinfandel vines over 100 years old produce small crops of concentrated, spicy fruit, which in turn make some of the Valley's most unique wines. These can also be made as “field blends” (wines made from a mix of grape varieties grown in the same vineyard) along with Petite Sirah, Carignan and Alicante Bouschet.
