Winemaker Notes
The 2018 Hopes End Brandy Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine is a rich, exotic wine aged in brandy barrels from Australia’s most awarded, artisanal brandy distillery. The result is a bright, dark inky red Cabernet wine with notes of blackberry, vanilla and chocolate and flavors of blueberry pie, truffles, plum jam, custard and mocha. Spicy aged undertones and a soft, ripe, tantalizing finish come from the brandy tempered oak. Drink this dry red wine with your best friends while enjoying everyday foods like pizza, roast or brisket. Hopes End's vines grow strong and robust in the heartland of South Australia’s vineyard regions. Bright, warm summers and deep sandy loam over limestone soils ensure vines flourish to produce intensely flavored, perfectly ripened grapes.
A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
