Winemaker Notes

This cuvee boasts a lovely garnet-red color with brick tints. The bouquet is complex and spicy and develops aromas of cloves and nutmeg. On the palate, this is a supple wine with silky, mineral, licorice-tinged tannins.

This dense and generous red opens with notes of sweet smoke, violet, lavender and laurel that complement the blackberry, cassis and cherry core. It's concentrated and robustly fruited, with a smooth texture and round mouthfeel that's framed by spicy tones and velvety tannins that linger through the finish.

The Côtes du Roussillon-Les Aspres appellation, granted in 2004, covers the transitional area between the lower Pyrénées and the coastal Roussillon plain. While it is south of the Têt River, the region became part of the Villages encasement in 2017. Only red wines can claim the Côtes du Roussillon-Les Aspres appellation name; these are generally blends of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and sometimes Carignan. (No Cinsault or Lledoner Pelut are allowed.)
