Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Shiraz 2002 Front Label
Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Shiraz 2002 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

As the aromas waft from your glass, you could almost be fooled into believing this wine was from the Rhone Valley. This delicious Shiraz comes from vines planted on the "Isolation Ridge" Vineyard located in the remote yet pristine countryside, 4.5 hours drive from Perth. Average temperatures, humidity levels and sunshine hours during the growing season are all very similar to the northern Rhone Valley. Not surprisingly the wine exhibits beautiful spice and pepper notes, but all wrapped up in wonderful intense and powerful fruit flavors with the very distinctive earthy notes that this vineyard is known for, adding to its Star Status. This wine is bound to excite all who taste it (Critics included!!).

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”
