Young, charming and fruity nose, with hints of citrus and fresh stone fruit. Lovely white peach, melon and floral flavors. Full, dry palate with firm structure, showing some minerality. Juicy freshness. Long, crisp finish with great finesse and viscosity. A pleasant, refreshing and easy going wine. A prime example Gruner Veltliner at an attractive price. This food-loving wine is working with dishes from sushi to roast pork.

The lifted nose unites creaminess, yeast, green pear peel and ripe Mirabelle. That creaminess also features on the light and fresh palate where it is joined by a sense of citrus zestiness and more of that Mirabelle. The finish is dry and clean. Grape Expectations (CA). Best Buy.
It is the love of Manfred's homeland and of nature that inspires him to create with great devotion great wines that show their area type and whose quality is recognized worldwide. To achieve that, he does not plant grape varieties from all over the world - no, he cultivate native varieties to present to the rest of the world. Only varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Neuburger, St. Laurent, etc., which have evolved through evolution over the centuries, bring with them the best equipment to consistently deliver grapes of the highest quality every year. They have adapted to the local climate and terroir (soil, sun, wind) as perfectly as no other variety!
Fun to say and delightfully easy to drink, Grüner Veltliner calls Austria its homeland. While some easily quaffable Grüners come in a one-liter—a convenient size—many high caliber single vineyard bottlings can benefit from cellar aging. Somm Secret—About 75% of the world’s Grüner Veltliner comes from Austria but the variety is gaining ground in other countries, namely Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the United States.
The region of considerable geologic diversity and microclimates, Kremstal extends virtually without border east from Wachau along the Danube River. Its magnificent terraced and rocky vineyards in the west alongside Wachau include some of Austria’s most esteemed Riesling vineyards, the (Steiner) Hund and Pfaffenberg, as well as Kögl and Wachtberg nearer to the city of Krems. After Krems, the vineyards become excessively steep upstream around Senftenberg where Riesling and Grüner Veltliner thrive. Grüner Veltliner does best from here east where the soils become a mix of sand, gravel and loess.
Grüner Veltliner and Riesling together comprise two thirds of all of the Kremstal vineyards; the region itself represents about five percent of Austria’s total vineyard area.
