Winemaker Notes

This frothy, deep purple wine offers a vivid, three-dimensional fragrance of freshly pressed grapes, wild mulberries, and crushed violets, and produced from organically farmed hillside vineyards just outside Modena, Moretto’s Grasparossa is crafted to complement the rich cuisine of Emilia-Romagna, with a bone-dry finish marked by bracing acidity and chalky tannins that cut beautifully through mortadella, aged Parmigiano, or other regional specialties, while also pairing wonderfully with a simple margherita pizza, smoky barbecue, or spiced carnitas.

Extending from the Adriatic coast in the east, to the border of the Mediterranean Ligurian region in the west, Emilia Romagna is a large, central Italian region focused on a wide array of gastronomic specialties. The plains of Emilia host four well-defined subzones for its famous, lightly sparkling red, Lambrusco. The more coastal Romagna has the capacity to produce impressive wines from Sangiovese and Albana.
