Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi (1.5 Liter Magnum) 2012 Front Label
Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi (1.5 Liter Magnum) 2012 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

The ruby red color is impenetrable, with crimson reflections, which characterize this important wine. The majestic body is highlighted already by its density in the glass. The scents are of red fruits, redcurrant and blackberry, blending with the spicy aromas of clove, cinnamon and a light fragrance of vanilla. In the taste, the rotund and velvety body wraps up all senses and it balances with an excellent tannin strength. The long persistence allows to fully relish the aromatic complexity upon which the spices predominate.

Perfect for important and elaborate courses, red meatand wild fowl.

A phenomenal Saffredi with so much structure and length. It’s full-bodied yet remaines agile and lively. Aromas and flavors of currants, mint and wet earth. Full-bodied, chewy and powerful. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. This has a special label celebrating the 25th anniversary of the production of this wine. It's the greatest Saffredi ever, cementing its reputation as the Lafite of Tuscany. This needs at least five years in bottle but it’s entrancing to drink now. A must-buy for Super Tuscan lovers.

The excellent 2012 Saffredi is one of the best wines I have tasted from Fattoria le Pupille. This is an exuberant and expressive blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a smaller part Petit Verdot from the gorgeous hills of Maremma near Grosseto, Tuscany. The wine is rich and penetrating with a stunning sense of balance and inner poise. Dark cherry, blackberry, spice, leather, tobacco and grilled herb flow freely from the bouquet. The wine is softly textured with full body appeal. This fabulous Saffredi should age forward ten years or more. The Cabernet component of the wine shows perfect ripeness.

Structured and elegant, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot offers aromas of blackberry, red currant, blue flowers, clove and oak. The concentrate palate doles out black cherry, plum, sage, anise and tobacco alongside a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Drink 2016–2022. Cellar Selection

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
