A dense style of sauvignon with sliced lemon rind and dried apple. A little waxy, but serious and layered. Drink now.

The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc La Luce is a little closed and reduced to begin, opening out to notions of yellow apples, fresh pears and white peaches with hints of flint and dried herbs. The palate has electric intensity with zingy apple and pear flavors lifted with a wicked backbone of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. Rating: 91+
Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
Situated in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley in the Vaca range, the vineyards of the Coombsville AVA enjoy a long growing season mitigated by cool, San Pablo Bay fog.
