Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From one of my favorite estates, the 2013 Vacqueyras Cuvee Classique shows the vintage’s more focused and straight style. It is pretty and complex, with notes of Provencal, garrigue, sappy flowers, peppery spice and pretty berry fruit. The wine is made from 55% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 15% Mourvedre. Drink this medium-bodied, delicious and easy drinking Vacqueyras on release and over the following 5-7 years.

The estate is named for the Curlew bird, which is known in Provencal dialect as Couroulu: this bird is the signature emblem on the Domaine’s labels. Winemaker Guy Ricard, who represents the third generation, is one of the Rhone’s most passionate and pleasant personalities, qualities which are reflected in his generous and engaging wines.
