Winemaker Notes
A clean, concentrated floral nose reminiscent of elder and acacia flower with hint of sage; fresh and distinctive on palate with nicely rounded fruit, light oak spice and a crisp finish.

A lightly smoky sauvignon, showing sliced lemons and just the faintest hint of green paprika. Bread-crust undertones. Taut and very spicy with edgy acidity, but silky strands of textured stone fruit. Full-bodied and long. Drink now.

The oak-aged 2017 Alto Adige Sauvignon Lafóa (with 50,000 bottles made) shows pronounced aromas of sweet flower and yellow rose that mirror the hot conditions of the 2017 summer growing season. Beyond that first wave of floral tones, the wine kicks in with a strong citrusy signature, with a touch of tart passion fruit and a beautiful note of mandarin orange peel. This expression of the diffuse white grape known in Italy simply as Sauvignon is smooth and satiny on the finish. Rating;92+
Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
