Winemaker Notes
A brilliantly clear ruby red Pinot Noir, the 2016 Emmaline Ann offers aromas of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and tangerine zest with secondary notes of damp forest floor. On the palate, hints of wild Rainier cherries linger with brilliant structure and smooth tannins that are finely integrated. Currently sitting at the intersection of freshness and deep fruit intensity, it's to be enjoyed in its youth and for many years to come.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Pale ruby, the 2016 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard opens with iodine, graphite and tea leaves with dried cranberry and blackberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate bursts with detailed fruits streaked with bright mineral and citrus accents. It has a firm, ripe frame and very juicy finish packed with flavor. It's a powerful expression that will age well in the cellar.

Wine Enthusiast
Earthy and stemmy, this opens in an effusive bouquet of wild strawberry and lavender, with a forest of pine encircling the aromas. Delicately built, with a strong underlying foundation of firm tannin, it buzzes on the palate in white pepper, nutmeg and crisp tangerine.
-
Decanter
As floral and feminine as ever, the nose shows its usual lavender, cherry blossom and sandalwood aromas. Bing cherries and pomegranates make up the soft and supple mid-palate, while the finish tastes of liquorice and dried herbs, with a unique cashew note hanging on the palate afterwards. Jeb Dunnuck
Similar in style, the 2016 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann also saw the same 22 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Black raspberries, smoked applewood, candied orange, and forest floor notes all emerge from this vibrant exotic, focused beauty. It's not for those craving overt power or richness and it's one of those wines that builds with time in the glass and shines for its complex and elegance. Give this beauty 2-3 years of bottle age and it will keep for over a decade.

James Suckling
Some ethereal perfume with bright strawberries, cherries and graphite. The palate has a very succulent, long and fresh feel. The structure is a real highlight, as is the length. Drink or hold.

The Sonoma Coast AVA is large in area but, not counting overlapping regions like Russian River Valley, only has a few thousand acres of grapevines—and it’s no wonder. Much of the region is rugged and not easily accessible. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean’s fog and cool breezes limits the varieties that can be cultivated, but it proves to be an ideal environment for high quality Pinot Noir.
Since fog is a frequent fact of life here, as are heavy marine layers that sometimes bring rain, the best vineyards are wisely planted above the fog line, on picturesque ridges that capture enough sun to provide even ripening. That, with the overnight drop in temperature that reliably preserves acidity, results in fine expressions of Pinot Noir that often receive tremendous critic and consumer praise alike, and are often in high demand.
