Winemaker Notes
Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were grown in the finest blocks of the vintage in Hirondelle Estate vineyard, blocks B5B and A5 respectively. The wine exudes a strong briary aroma with mint chocolate and cedar notes. With a complex flavor profile including blueberry, blackberry and cream notes, the tannins are persistent on the palate without being overpowering.

Some wines are made to be served without food, while others are designed to pair with meals; many are even intended to do both. The 2013 Clos Du Val The Three Graces Proprietary Red—showing ripe fruit and appealing rustic earth—can be as much a beautiful choice to accompany a ball game on a big-screen TV as on the table next to a plate of a well-marbled ribeye of beef. Drinks well now. (Tasted: October 21, 2016, San Francisco, CA)
Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.
Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
