Winemaker Notes
With its pale yellow and green reflections, the Esprit de Saint-Sulpice reveals notes of citrus fruits, from lemon to yellow grapefruit, which give it tension and aromatic freshness. Allowed to breathe, the bouquet invites you to discover yellow and white fruits such as fresh mango and pear. It is confirmed on the palate with a fruity, thirst-quenching character and a tangy finish.
Drink as an aperitif or enjoy with shellfish or grilled fish.
Blend: 90% Sauvignon Blanc and Gris, 10% Sémillon
Sometimes light and crisp, other times rich and creamy, Bordeaux White Blends typically consist of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Often, a small amount of Muscadelle or Sauvignon Gris is included for added intrigue. Popularized in Bordeaux, the blend is often mimicked throughout the New World. Somm Secret—Sauternes and Barsac are usually reserved for dessert, but they can be served before, during or after a meal. Try these sweet wines as an aperitif with jamón ibérico, oysters with a spicy mignonette or during dinner alongside hearty Alsatian sausage.
Extending over verdant slopes between the Rivers Dordogne and Garonne, the Entre-Deux-Mers region (“between two seas”) offers great value and a splendid introduction to the dry reds and whites of Bordeaux. Merlot and Cabernet comprise most of the reds; Sauvignon blanc and Semillon are responsible for the whites, all of which are best enjoyed in their youth.
