Ripe strawberries and vanilla. Some sweet tobacco and nutmeg. Round and full on the palate with really ripe, almost jammy fruit and soft fine tannins. Firm and juicy. Give this another two or three years of bottle age. Always excellent.

Ripe black fruits, currants, truffly earth, graphite, and chocolaty, tobacco-like notes all emerge from the 2010 Château Puygueraud, a still textured, round, nicely balanced Francs. It's fully mature and probably not getting better, but it's still a delicious drink and an incredibly satisfying, mature Bordeaux.

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
