Winemaker Notes

With infinite delicacy and charm, the 2019 vintage is imbuedwith freshness and light. The wines flit from fresh fruit to floralharmonies. A rich blend of perfume, revealing notes of Morellocherries, violets and spice. A lace so delicately gossamer-fine, it seems like silk. A subtle tableau, inspired by nature and reflecting the landscape. Airy and subterranean, the multiple nuances of clay, fragrances from above and below the soil. The wines are vivid and bright. The saline touch on the finish instills that oceanic feeling synonymous with being at one with nature.

    The aromas of orange peel, citrus, fresh mushroom, bark, smoked meat and currants is fantastic. The palate is pure and focused with super-fine tannins and a long, long finish. Muscular and formed, yet agile, Takes the appellation to a new level. Partially aged in amphore. From organically grown grapes.

With generous fruit and supple tannins, Merlot is made in a range of styles from everyday-drinking to world-renowned and age-worthy. Merlot is the dominant variety in the wines from Bordeaux’s Right Bank regions of St. Emilion and Pomerol, where it is often blended with Cabernet Franc to spectacular result. Merlot also frequently shines on its own, particularly in California’s Napa Valley. Somm Secret—As much as Miles derided the variety in the 2004 film, Sideways, his prized 1961 Château Cheval Blanc is actually a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
