Winemaker Notes

Delicate and pale, brilliant and limpid, this white wine is bright and crisp on the palate yet offers impressive aromatic complexity, with notes of grapefruit and white flowers. The finish is marked by salinity and a pleasant touch of bitterness that adds length and refinement.

Blend: 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sauvignon Gris

Chewy, grippy and mouthfilling, this is a plush and plump style with a bouncy palate and drive of quite rich and concentrated flavours - cassis, red cherry and pomegranate. Licks of salinity come in on the finish and this has a lot to like. It's quit a bold, in your face style, and it's carrying more weight on the mid palate than others which bodes well for future ageing. Sculpted and somewhat muscular but with tons of energy. I like it. A blend of 77% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec complete the blend.

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
