Winemaker Notes
The vineyard was bought by Nicolas Thienpont in 1988 and pro- duces a dry wine, refined like a great Bordeaux white and participa- ting in the rebirth of the Appellation. The predominance of Semillon and the winemaking techniques used (fermentation in barrels, ma- turation on the lees) give the wine roundness and liveliness. Bottled, it develops a nice complexity.

James Suckling
Fresh-pineapple, green-apple, lemon-zest and grapefruit aromas. Hint of beeswax and white pepper. It’s medium-bodied with tangy acidity. Waxy and layered with a refreshing, mineral finish. 63% semillon, 21% sauvignon blanc and 16% sauvignon gris. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Les Charmes-Godard 2018 Blanc displays scents of lemon drops, pink grapefruit and Bosc pears plus nuances of coriander seed and white pepper. Medium-bodied, it has a wonderful silkiness to the texture and wonderfully intense citrus layers in the mouth with a crisp backbone and long finish.

Decanter
This is majority old-vine Sémillon fermented in 500l oak casks. There's clear depth to the ripe stone fruits and a welcome sense of scraping minerality, with a touch of bitterness on the finish. Owned by Nicolas Thienpont.

Jeb Dunnuck
The 2018 Château Les Charmes-Godard Blanc is another impressive white in the vintage. Lots of ripe pineapple, lemon zest, and honeyed mineral notes define the bouquet, and it's a nicely concentrated, balanced, layered white with bright acidity and the class to keep for 7-8 years or more.

Wine

Sometimes light and crisp, other times rich and creamy, Bordeaux White Blends typically consist of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Often, a small amount of Muscadelle or Sauvignon Gris is included for added intrigue. Popularized in Bordeaux, the blend is often mimicked throughout the New World. Somm Secret—Sauternes and Barsac are usually reserved for dessert, but they can be served before, during or after a meal. Try these sweet wines as an aperitif with jamón ibérico, oysters with a spicy mignonette or during dinner alongside hearty Alsatian sausage.

On the right bank of Bordeaux between St. Emilion and Bergerac, Cotes de Francs boasts southwestern exposed slopes that produce robust Merlot-based wines. A tiny amount of Sémillon is grown and made in both dry and sweet styles.
