Winemaker Notes

Critical Acclaim

All Vintages
WE 92
Wine Enthusiast
Big and serious, with a well-balanced wood and spice character. The tense tannins provide a nervy, tight counterpoint.
Barrel Sample: 90-92 Points
WS 92
Wine Spectator
Youthfully raw, with dark plum, currant and blackberry fruit still settling in, along with roasted tobacco and dark fig-bread notes. Nice bass note already. Will the treble fill in?
Barrel Sample: 89-92 Points
JS 91
James Suckling
Very sexy tannins here with blueberry and mineral character on the palate. Full body and refined finish. Well done.
Barrel Sample: 90-91 Points

Chateau Fombrauge Winery Video
The history of Fombrauge realizes the genesis of great wines in St. Emilion. The acquisition of Fombrauge in March 1999 by Bernard Magrez gave the vintage a boost in terms of product quality by bringing the rigor of expertise.

The heart of an area of 75 hectares, 52 planted to date, is beautifully situated on a limestone plateau. The vineyard possesses the three main soil profiles of Saint-Emilion, producing wines of great finesse.
