Winemaker Notes

The garnet color is intense. The aromas are deep and marked by black fruits. On the palate, this wine is concentrated, full and harmonious.

Pairs well with Deer Filet with Grand Veneur Sauce, Rabbit Ballotine, and Saint-Nectaire Cheese.

The 2016 Volnay Clos Des Chenes 1Er Cru’s more translucent ruby color is followed by a solid perfume of ripe black cherry and raspberry fruits intermixed with plenty of spice, dried earth, Asian spices, and forest floor. It's juicy and medium-bodied, with a rounded, nicely textured profile, ripe tannins, and an already charming, balanced style that’s hard to resist. Drink it over the coming 10-15 years.

Ripe, bordering on cherry and violet candy flavors, with a firm spine of tannins for support. A dusty edge lines the finish. Best from 2022 through 2033.

Chateau de Meursault, France
Chateau de Meursault Chateau de Meursault's Winery Winery Image

The fiefdom of Foulot Mill, that was later to become Chateau de Meursault, was created in the 11th century, during the reign of Robert the 1st. From 12th to 16th centuries, the owners of the fiefdom changed several times due to the struggle between the Duchy of Burgundy and the King of France. Starting from the 17th century, the Blancheton, the Serre, the Boisseaux and nowadays the Halley families succeeded each other – all of them having the same ambition of developing the reputation of Chateau de Meursault and its wines.
