Chateau de Beaucastel Coudoulet Rouge 2006 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

A deep ruby red colour. The nose evokes aromas of red fruit, blackberries, black cherries and liquorice. In the mouth one finds hints of wild thyme and a finely structured wine that shows very good length.

The 2006 Coudoulet Rouge is a beautiful, delicious offering with notes of root vegetables interwoven with notions of black cherry jam, licorice, pepper and Provencal herbs. It is ideal for drinking over the next 5-6 years.

Typically thought of as a baby Chateâuneuf-du-Pape, the term Côtes du Rhône actually doesn’t merely apply to the flatter outskirts of the major southern Rhône appellations, it also includes the fringes of well-respected northern Rhône appellations. The region offers some of the best values in France and even some first-rate and age-worthy reds. Red wine varieties include most of the Chateâuneuf-du-Pape varieties like Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise, as well as Carignan. White grapes grown include Grenache blanc, Roussanne and Viognier, among others.
