Winemaker Notes

Chateau Bellevue Peycharneau Bordeaux Superieur is a deep garnet robe with mauve refraction. A beautiful nose, very concentrated and complex with woody, vanilla flavors, delicate toasty notes, and red cherry aromas. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, fleshy, structured, and velvety. Good tannic balance. A beautiful, savory finish, with long aromatic persistence.

Blend: 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec

Berry and earth aromas and flavors with chocolate and walnuts. Medium body with medium, round tannins and a savory finish. 65% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec. Drinkable now, but a year or two will make it even better.

COMMENTARY: The 2019 Chateau Bellevue Peycharneau is firm yet smooth on the palate. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits alluring aromas and flavors of candied cherries, spice, violets, and a hint of wood. Enjoy it with a lightly-seasoned, grilled ribeye. In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
