Winemaker Notes

The wine’s aspect is clear and dark. The nose bursts with fresh red berry fruit aromas, tiny berries and cherries, enhanced by subtle notes of oak. A sensation of verticality comes to the fore on the palate with very firm pHs which give the wine great freshness and pure fruit character. The finish is lingering with subtle notes of roasted coffee beans and oak coming through.
Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc

A delicious, savory red with blackcurrant, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with fine, round tannins. Fresh and bright. It opens at the end and becomes chewy and intense. Give this two or three years to soften, but it’s already focused. Try after 2023.

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
