Winemaker Notes

Bright gold color. Intense aromas of exotic fruit (mango) mixed with yellow fleshed fruit (peach) underlined by mineral and iodine notes. Complex and broad shouldered. Beautiful freshness on a well-balanced structure. Elegant finish with beautiful mineral nuances.

Still in barrel. Mid lemon yellow. Sitting back on its haunches. Clearly a significant bench of white fruit with just a touch of citrus. Concentrated, as yet undeveloped, an attractive greener touch to the fruit further back, complex and well worthy of its grand cru status. Very long finish. Barrwl Sample: 92-95

One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.

Another charming village of the Côte de Beaune district of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, Ladoix-Serrigny produces mainly Premier Cru Pinot Noir, but also some Chardonnay. Interestingly, some of the villages’ Premiers Crus vineyards overlap with nearby Aloxe-Corton.
