Winemaker Notes

This vibrant young red delivers a sumptuous hit of ripe red fruit, accompanied by just a hint of cinnamon spice and soft, smooth tannins.

It's incredibly good value for money and is particularly good when accompanying a juicy steak or grilled meats.

A solid introduction to the reds from this appellation with stacks of blackberry fruit plus a generous and mellow personality, with earthy and spicy notes adding interest on the moderately dry palate. A cuvee of 80% grenache and 20% syrah. Sustainable. Vegan. Drink now.

COMMENTARY: The 2021 Cellier des Dauphins Côtes du Rhône is a perfect daily wine, and it is spot-on in its category. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits aromas and flavors of tart berries, chalky notes, and earthliness. Enjoy it with a simple beef stew. (Tasted: June 10, 2024, San Francisco, CA)

Typically thought of as a baby Chateâuneuf-du-Pape, the term Côtes du Rhône actually doesn’t merely apply to the flatter outskirts of the major southern Rhône appellations, it also includes the fringes of well-respected northern Rhône appellations. White wines can be produced under the appellation name, but very little is actually made.

The region offers some of the best values in France and even some first-rate and age-worthy reds. Red wine varieties include most of the Chateâuneuf-du-Pape varieties like Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise, as well as Carignan. White grapes grown include Grenache blanc, Roussanne and Viognier, among others.
