Winemaker Notes
Mas de Can Blau is produced from a small selection of Mazuelo (Carignan), Grenache, and Syrah vines that are 35-50 years old. After a careful hand-selection of the grapes, the wine is fermented separately in small stainless steel vats before being transferred to new French oak barrels for 18 months of aging. Aromatic nose of black and blue fruits, licorice, vanilla and smoky oak. Supple and expansive with impressive vivacity and depth, slow-building tannins, spice and floral notes. Complex and nuanced red blend.

A fragrant red, offering plenty of toast, spice, smoke and licorice notes that play off the saturated black cherry, dried herb and mineral flavors. Firm and full-bodied, structured by dense tannins, but well-balanced and fresh—not overly weighty. Mazuelo, Syrah and Garnacha. Best from 2024 through 2032.
With bold fruit flavors and accents of sweet spice, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre form the base of the classic Rhône Red Blend, while Carignan, Cinsault and Counoise often come in to play. Though they originated from France’s southern Rhône Valley, with some creative interpretation, Rhône blends have also become popular in other countries. Somm Secret—Putting their own local spin on the Rhône Red Blend, those from Priorat often include Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In California, it is not uncommon to see Petite Sirah make an appearance.
