Winemaker Notes
This unique combination, never before created, results in a mouth filling, juicy Pinot Noir with verve and tension. Medium bodied with bold, red fruit flavors being pre-eminent, this wine is ready to drink now and should continue to evolve for years

Tightly compressed with fresh, focused flavor, this wine opens in floral aromas of rose and lavender, sourced from a two vineyards within the appellation, including Hummingbird Hill, a single vineyard designate for the producer. Light delicately woven citrus notes are boosted by well- reserved acidity that lends a spicy element to the finish.

COMMENTARY: Over the past two decades, my passion for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noirs has grown exponentially. The 2016 Cellars 33 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is spot-on as a representative of some of these top wines. TASTING NOTES: This wine is bright, pure, and fresh. Its pure aromas and flavors of red fruits and brisk minerality should pair it well with pan-seared salmon. (Tasted: April 23, 2019, San Francisco, CA)
The Sonoma Coast AVA is large in area but, not counting overlapping regions like Russian River Valley, only has a few thousand acres of grapevines—and it’s no wonder. Much of the region is rugged and not easily accessible. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean’s fog and cool breezes limits the varieties that can be cultivated, but it proves to be an ideal environment for high quality Pinot Noir.
Since fog is a frequent fact of life here, as are heavy marine layers that sometimes bring rain, the best vineyards are wisely planted above the fog line, on picturesque ridges that capture enough sun to provide even ripening. That, with the overnight drop in temperature that reliably preserves acidity, results in fine expressions of Pinot Noir that often receive tremendous critic and consumer praise alike, and are often in high demand.
