Winemaker Notes

In Greek mythology, Ôra or Hora is a group of goddesses representing the change of seasons. The autumn goddess displayed on the label is one of four sculptures found at Cathiard Vineyard, where Hora is produced by the estate's dedicated team. Bearing the fruit of autumn's harvest, Hora embodies the elegance and harmony of the vineyard which spreads through St. Helena and Rutherford.

A bright and intense red and purple fruits dominate the nose with sweet and spiced tones which follows onto the palate. Versatile but also age-worthy, it is a balanced, fresh and lickerish wine with focused acidity, round tannins and generous mouthfeel which makes is extremely drinkable at the same time.

Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Malbec

This inviting, chocolaty wine is supersoft in mouthfeel at first, due to a full body and resolved tannins. But the tannins firm up on the finish to reveal a structure that can help it age well. Milk chocolate, blueberries and mint bring a lot of flavor. Blended from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Malbec.

Perfumed aromas of tile, blackberry, bark, earth and pine needles follow through to a medium body with very fine tannins and a lovely savory finish. The balance and drinkability is really right. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 10% malbec. First release. Drink or hold.

Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.

Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
