Winemaker Notes

Brio is made from some of Castello Romitorio's youngest Sangiovese vines. It is a fresh and fruity wine, which perfectly expresses the Tuscan territory. Well-balanced and elegant, it is vibrant with energy and it is persistent on the palate. This shows how even a young Sangiovese can express authenticity and complexity.

Also based on the estate’s youngest Sangiovese and raised for several months in large oak casks, the 2023 Brio is a touch more inward today and benefits from a bit of air. The nose reveals ripe cherries, mocha, pressed flowers, and mossy earth, with a slightly sweeter impression of fruit than the 2024. Medium-bodied, it has vibrant acidity, ripe tannins, and a supple texture that turns more savory through the finish.

This is vibrant and expressive, its gossamer texture a backdrop for strawberry, cherry, mineral and wild herb flavors. A nice intensity carries through the lingering aftertaste. Sangiovese. Drink now through 2032. 1,900 cases made, 300 cases imported.

Here's a new entry-level wine from Castello Romitorio. Made in stainless steel, the 2023 Brio Rosso is all Sangiovese with a fun artist's label. This wine happily embraces its primary fruit profile and offers plenty of redcurrant and wild cherry along the way. It's a simple expression, but the fun factor is big.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
