Winemaker Notes

Deep ruby with garnet hues. Structured and complex, with a lovely nose of dried herbs, leather, earth, vanilla and strawberry, jam and plenty of plummy, flavorful fruit on the palate.

Professional Ratings

  • 93

Nuanced minerality chiselled to the ripe red berries, blood orange zest, savory plums and cherries. Medium to full body on the palate with a bone-dry, transparent middle and a tight, mineral coating of tannins. Fruity but pithy and precise, too.

  • 92
Pure, this red boasts aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, iron, leather and tobacco. Rich yet firmly structured, displaying refined tannins and lively acidity. Offers fine overall balance and length. Drink now through 2030. 4,100 cases made, 50 cases imported.
  • 90

The nose is light, bright and cheerful, with aromas of strawberry, cherry and orange peel. The palate stays lively with more sweet fruit and citrus, while depth comes from an emergent earthy undertone. The sweetness empowers, rather than stifles, an overall playful buoyancy.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
