Boscarelli Il Nocio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2012 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Intense ruby red with garnet hues; classic nose of blueberries and plums, which evolve into iris and violet; full, lush, elegant and fruity palate with complex, layered notes of ripe fruit and a very long finish.
Ideally pairs with red meat and game, very rich, structured and important dishes.

The 2012 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Il Nocio comes from a warm vintage and offers a thick sense of richness and texture as a result. The Il Nocio vineyard is approximately 1.5 hectares in size and produces 5,000 bottles on average. (The 2017 vintage, on the other hand, will only make 1,000 bottles if the wine is made at all.) This is a sturdy and full wine with pretty tones of ripe fruit, leather and spice."

Dark spice, plum, toast and balsamic aromas lift out of the glass. The palate is firm and full-bodied, showing juicy black cherry, grilled herb, roasted coffee bean and French oak notes, underscored by bracing tannins that suggest this still needs a few more years to unwind.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
