Winemaker Notes
"Offers lovely notes of freshly crushed blueberry and boysenberry fruit, along with integrated mocha, mineral and floral notes. Creamy mouthfeel and a long, fruit-stained finish."
-Wine Specatator
The Malbec grapes from mature vines are sourced in equal parts from the Agrelo and La Consulta regions. The wine is fermented and aged in French oak barriques, with aging lasting 16 months. It is then matured in bottle for a further 6 months. Deep red in color with intense violet shades, the nose reveals a combination of red fruits and toasty notes contributed by the French oak. On the palate it is a complex and structured wine with a long finish.
Professional Ratings
Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
