Founded by Carlos San Pedro in 1998 at the age of 25 with 15 Hectares inherited from his family, Bodegas Pujanza has become in just over two decades a true “First-Growth” in Rioja Alavesa, making unforgettable estate-grown single-vineyard, high-altitude wines that showcase exuberant fruit, finesse and beautiful integration. Over the years, Carlos tirelessly sourced and acquired some of the most unique old-vine plots in the region adding up to nearly 40 Hectares.
Carlos San Pedro's wines have been internationally recognized by the world's top critics, consistently applauding his dedication to crafting truly authentic Rioja Alavesa wines where each parcel's unique soil and characteristics are directly translated into the personality of the wine.

Hailed as the star red variety in Spain’s most celebrated wine region, Tempranillo from Rioja, or simply labeled, “Rioja,” produces elegant wines with complex notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, leather, toast and tobacco, whose best examples are fully capable of decades of improvement in the cellar.
Rioja wines are typically a blend of fruit from its three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, although specific sub-region (zonas), village (municipios) and vineyard (viñedo singular) wines can now be labeled. Rioja Alta and Alavesa, at the highest elevations, are considered to be the source of the brightest, most elegant fruit, while grapes from the warmer and drier, Rioja Oriental, produce wines with deep color, great body and richness.
