Big Table Farm Sunnyside Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017 Front Label
Big Table Farm Sunnyside Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

This wine offers a full rich nose, cinnamon, cedar and new leather. Great density on the palate, rich but with a focused palate as the acid holds this wine in perfect tension. Flavors are explosive, fresh. The structure here is based more on its acidity than tannins, though the tannins are there they just melt on your tongue. This wine has great length to accompany its generosity.

Attractive violets and blueberries with wild herbs. Lighter red cherries and strawberries, too. The palate has a smooth, supple feel with such vibrant, fresh fruit, cast in quite ripe, enriched tannins. Long, plum and cherry-cake finish.

An off-the-radar vineyard south of Salem, Sunnyside is a site of Jory and Nekia soils planted 30 years ago. The 2017 is floral and slightly earthy, with scents of dried leaves and turf surrounding a core of black-cherry fruit. For duck

Expressive aromas of wild flowers, raspberry and orange peel reveal sleek and elegant flavors that glide on a delicate finish.

The 2017 Pinots from BTF are significantly lighter than the previous vintage, but well-made and balanced nonetheless. This blends its rhubarb and cherry fruit with hints of earth, stem and a light dusting of baking spices.

Home of some of the planet’s most amazingly elegant and expressive Pinot noir, the Willamette Valley is a pastoral, mixed landscape of green, bucolic rolling hills, dramatic forestlands and small, independent, friendly wine growers. As a leader in environmental stewardship, the valley has some of the nation’s most protective land use policies, with two-thirds of its vineyards farmed sustainably and over half, organically. While the valley claims a cool, continental climate, and is heavily influenced by the cold, moist winds of the Pacific Ocean, its warm and dry summers allow for the steady, even ripening of Pinot noir.

The potential of Willamette Valley Pinot noir continues to attract the investment of serious growers and winemakers both locally and from abroad, as naturally the finished wines bring accolades from professionals and enthusiasts. With a range of styles from delicate dried cherry, raspberry and hibiscus to stronger notes of truffle, mocha, plum and spice, a fine Willamette Valley Pinot noir is a perfect expression of both character and grace.
