Winemaker Notes

Aged 60 days in American Oak Bourbon barrels, this bold and unruly Chardonnay shows flavors of baked Golden apples, toasted almonds, and a buttery finish.

Wine Enthusiast
Richness, almost unctuousness, is the hallmark of this fullbodied, creamy textured and complex wine. Subtle baking spices, butter and ginger fill the aroma, while perfectly ripe, abundant flavors of pear tart and toasted almond flood the palate. It’s balanced on the plump side. Editors’ Choice.

Beringer Bros., California
150 years ago, Jacob and Frederick Beringer were pioneers of a new age, making their way across the frontier to plant their first vines in Napa Valley. Today, Beringer remains true to their bold, pioneering spirit with Beringer Bros. Bourbon Barrel Aged Wines. The latest varietals are aged for sixty days in charred, American oak bourbon barrels. The result: a uniquely rich, warm, and bold flavor.

California’s most praised white wine, Chardonnay is also the state’s most planted white grape variety. Diverse terrain and microclimates allow for an incredible range of wine styles.

Chardonnay planted in the cooler, coastal zones takes on bright characteristics like lemon zest, key lime, green apple and wet flint. For this style, look to the chilly Sonoma Coast, Carneros, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands and Edna Valley.

The inland zones of California’s coast, such as the Russian River, Sonoma, Napa and Livermore Valleys maintain a more Goldilocks-esque climate where both styles go. Early picking retains acidity and creates a leaner style but leaving the grapes to hang creates an approachable Chardonnay, balancing richness and finesse.

Chardonnay also plays a major part in the sparkling wine production of the Anderson Valley and Carneros.
