Winemaker Notes

The wine is a dark burgundy, russet-red in color with beautiful depth and richness. The bouquet is soft and alluring with aromas of red currant, raspberry, Bing cherry, and cassis alongside mulled wine holiday spice notes. The palate is plush and inviting with ripe red berries, cherry compote, and raspberry preserves supported by silky, voluminous tannins and a mouthcoating texture that provides a lovely weight, finishing round and sumptuous. Darker tones of blackberry, acai berry, and dark plum, come through on the lengthy finish, while more subtle notes of violet, crushed red rose petal, and black pepper spice (a nod to well-integrated oak) accompany the fresh acidity, finishing dry and pleasing.

Offering perfect balance, complexity, and elegance, this is a wine with universal appeal that’s sure to pair well with a variety of cuisines.

Blend: 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Charbono, 4% Petite Sirah, 3% Merlot, 2% Touriga Nacional, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec

Professional Ratings

Focused and brilliant flavors of red and black cherries and black currants drive this sleek and powerful wine, as minty, toasty, and tobacco-like accents stay subtly in the background until the finish. A full body, medium to full tannins and good fruit acidity lend tangy freshness. Best from 2026.

A juicy and delicious wine with a round and polished texture with hints of chocolate and walnuts. Some iron shavings, too. Medium body. Savory at the end. Lovely dark fruit in the finish.

Shows a light mesquite edge that mingles with gently mulled plum and blackberry fruit flavors, while lightly singed vanilla and tobacco fill in through the finish. Reveals a solid graphite spine, too. Drink now through 2033. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 28,595 cases made.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
