Winemaker Notes

For its soft, elegant character, Pinot Noir has been hailed by consumers and wine experts as one of the most refined noble grape varieties. At Castello Banfis renowned estate in Montalcino, the lean soil and unique microclimate afford optimum growing conditions for the temperamental Pinot Noir grape. Belnero is an intense, ruby-red wine with a fruity, berry-like bouquet and a rich, harmonious, complex and well-balanced taste. An opulent red, the beautifully perfumed Belnero is aged for approximately ten months in French barrique followed by one year rest in the bottle before release. Belnero is only produced in the finest vintage years at Castello Banfi.

A delightful accompaniment to well-seasoned pasta dishes, Belnero Pinot Noir is also an outstanding companion to veal, red meats and cheeses.

From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
