Winemaker Notes
The 2019 Lauren is a thrilling, elegant, textural wine. A breathtaking bouquet of orchard fruit oils, aromatic spice, lime leaves, and fresh hazelnut unfurls in the glass with accents of toasted sesame and pure soil tones. A dizzying array of aromas expand further on the palate with staining flavors of yellow nectarine, green tea, and notions of crushed chalk. A glycerin quality extends across the mid-palate and carries through the long and sophisticated finish. This wine has the vivacity and drive to drink young for a decade or more. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Lauren Vineyard (named after Mark Aubert's daughter) is the first vineyard Mark Aubert ever bought. It is composed of gravel mixed with Goldrich soils and was planted in 1999 to four different clones: two Old Wente clones, Mount Eden and Corton-Charlemagne. The 2019 Chardonnay Lauren Estate (a barrel sample) was fermented and aged in 100% new French oak. Unlike the other 2019 Aubert Chardonnays, this one needs a little swirling and coaxing to reveal the youthfully mute nuances of sea spray, crushed cashews, beeswax and allspice over a core of fresh pineapple, passion fruit, lemon meringue pie and toast. The full-bodied palate delivers the most gorgeous silken texture with tons of opulent spice-laced tropical fruit flavors and a refreshing line, finishing with incredible length and energy. James Suckling
Warm and toasted aromas of baked citrus, stone fruit, macadamia nut, crushed sage and dried flowers. Full-bodied. Supremely elegant and sleek. Suede, paprika, turmeric, rose water, lily and dried stone fruit wrap around structured tannins that effortlessly carry the flavors with vivid depth and intensity. Balanced, layered and long. Superb. Drink or hold.

Wine Spectator
Rich acidity supports the focused flavors of Fuji apple, Asian pear and citrus that are vibrant and well-focused. Accents of dried sage mid palate lead to a mineral-infused finish that shows buttery hints.

Mark Aubert’s Sonoma Coast vineyard-designate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs have risen in popularity at a dizzying speed. Aubert’s career in winemaking began in 1989 at Peter Michael under the tutelage of Helen Turley, which led to his time at Colgin, Sloan, Futo and then Bryant Family, before founding Aubert Wines with his wife Teresa in 1999. His wines express the essence of singular terroirs with an effortless grace. Mark crafts the wines of Aubert to speak to a variety of wine lovers with one thing in common – selective palates that expect nothing but the best.
