Winemaker Notes

The 2014 Aquinas Cabernet Sauvignon represents the quintessential elegance that is a well-balanced North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Exhibiting complex layers of cassis, black cherry, and tobacco leaf balanced with hints of graphite and bitter coco nibs that create the full body and smooth nish. The Petit Verdot added to the blend bolsters not only the color and complexity of this wine, but also brings a light and fruity avor to the table. The Malbec’s aroma of leather and tobacco as well as smoky nish help to balance out this Cabernet Sauvignon to a point of perfection.

Roasted lamb and rosemary ngerling potatoes, grilled cheese with gruyere cheese, thyme and shallots, and creme brulee make the perfect mates to this luxurious wine.

Reaching up California's coastline and into its valleys north of San Francisco, the North Coast AVA includes six counties: Marin, Solano, Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake. While Napa and Sonoma enjoy most of the glory, the rest produce no shortage of quality wines in an intriguing and diverse range of styles.

Climbing up the state's rugged coastline, the chilly Marin County, just above the City and most of Sonoma County, as well as Mendocino County on the far north end of the North Coast successfully grow cool-climate varieties like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and in some spots, Riesling. Inland Lake County, on the other hand, is considerably warmer, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc produce some impressive wines with affordable price tags.
