Winemaker Notes

A fragrant wine with notes of cassis, fresh herbs, subtle dusty, and earthly layers. On the palate, cassis and bay leaf. Complex and rich with notes of dark chocolate. A smooth, silky tannin structure

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Frankland River is leafy and dark, with iodine and squid ink, blackcurrant and black cherry. A soft finish characterizes the fruit here (it doesn't have the thrust and drive of some of the warmer vintages in the region), and the tannins too, while being black, are soft. A pretty wine. Mouth perfume. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
