Winemaker Notes
Resembling apples, honeysuckle, roasted nuts and pineapple individually, and full of luscious perfumed aromatics, the wine exudes richness and viscosity tempered with refreshing and energetic length. The finished wine evokes the redolence of springtime flowers, honeydew melon and crème caramel contrasted with finishing flavors of lemon meringue and baked pineapple. At its best now through 2019.
Pair with spicy Vietnamese lemongrass tofu, sautéed Thai chicken thighs with ginger-soy, and seared duck foie gras with green grape sauce.
Full-bodied and flavorful, white Rhône blends originate from France’s Rhône Valley. Today these blends are also becoming popular in other regions. Typically some combination of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier form the basis of a white Rhône blend with varying degrees of flexibility depending on the exact appellation. Somm Secret—In the Northern Rhône, blends of Marsanne and Roussanne are common but the south retains more variety. Marsanne, Roussanne as well as Bourboulenc, Clairette, Picpoul and Ugni Blanc are typical.
