Winemaker Notes
A fruity white wine, yellowish-green in color. It has a scent of fresh green apples. Juicy and fruity on the palate, with a peppery resonance.

Aromas of canteloupe, Granny Smith apple and smoke follow over to the vibrant palate along with lemon drop, white pepper and wild herb. Bright acidity and flinty mineral notes impart fabulous energy.

The Abbazia di Novacella 2021 Alto Adige Valle Isarco Grüner Veltliner is an open-knit white with peach, pineapple and baked apple. This medium-weight wine closes with a silky texture and a lean finish. Three-quarters of the must is fermented and aged in stainless steel and one-quarter goes into large oak casks. The vines are rooted in glacier soils with quartz and other mineral deposits. Best after 2022.
Fun to say and delightfully easy to drink, Grüner Veltliner calls Austria its homeland. While some easily quaffable Grüners come in a one-liter—a convenient size—many high caliber single vineyard bottlings can benefit from cellar aging. Somm Secret—About 75% of the world’s Grüner Veltliner comes from Austria but the variety is gaining ground in other countries, namely Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the United States.
