The wine's aromas are fruity and spicy, with cantaloupe, pear and cayenne pepper holding court. The acidity is tangy, but the texture is creamy and smooth. There's lots of pink grapefruit and yellow apple flavors here, along with a trace of cedar and something similar to peach schnapps.

While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines.
