It mainly grows in parts of Bordeaux and Loire Valley, where it is blended to Sauvignon Blanc to add body and fullness to the finished wine. While nearly half of the global acreage is in France, about a third of plantings are found in Chile.

But it’s well-agreed that Sauvignon Gris vines are likely unknowingly scattered among the Sauvignon Blanc vines. And for another fun fact: the Touraine wine region calls this grape Fié, or Fié Gris.
