Once a walled fortress, Chateau St. Georges sits impressively atop a prominent hillside overlooking St. Emilion and Montagne. The property has been owned by the Desbois family for three generations. It has long produced the best known wine of the tiny satellite appellation St. Georges-St. Emilion. In response to the garagist movement of the late 1990’s, winemaker Petrus Desbois created a new wine, the Trilogie du Chateau St. Georges. Made in limited quantity entirely from the oldest Merlot vines on the property, the Trilogie is fermented and aged in new oak barriques. It is a heady, full-bodied wine of power and finesse that gives a contemporary expression to the exquisite Merlot produced on this estate.
