Yalumba Y Series Shiraz-Viognier 2010 Front Label
Yalumba Y Series Shiraz-Viognier 2010 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Deep crimson purple in color, the 2010 Y Series Shiraz Viognier has aromas that are both wild and exotic. Blueberries, violets and cherry ripe notes from the Shiraz are elevated by the subtle influence of Viognier, which brings an alluring Turkish delight character. The well rounded palate is medium- to full-bodied and shows Turkish delight and cherry ripe flavors that are in harmony with the silky tannins.

Velvety, focused and juicy, this boasts spicy blackberry and cherry flavors, hinting at wet rock notes as it all lingers easily on the open-textured finish. Best from 2013 through 2018.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”
