Introducing the 20th Woodford Reserve's Master's Collection release - Madeira Cask Finish. This release features Woodford Reserve Whiskey that was finished in Madeira casks and blended with wheat whiskey, creating uniquely fruit-forward whiskies.
For the 2024 Master’s Collection release, Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall experimented with finishing Woodford Reserve's bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskies in Madeira barrels— creating uniquely fruit-forward whiskies. Hailing from the Madeira islands off the coast of Portugal, the Madeira barrels are rich with dried fruit, spice, and nutty flavors from the fortified wine they once held. To further enhance the flavors of the Madeira-finished whiskies, they blended them with their fruit-forward Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey. Together, this blend elevates the expansive fruit and floral notes found in the Wheat Whiskey to create this year's Master Collection presentation: Woodford Reserve Madeira Finish Blend.
Capturing a broad range in one category, American Whiskey refers to any spirit made in America by distilling a mash of fermented grains—typically corn, wheat, rye or barley. American Whiskey must be distilled to no more than 95% alcohol and bottled at 40% or higher. In order to be labeled a straight Whiskey, it also must be aged in white oak barrels for a minimum of two years and not contain any added colors or flavors.
