Winemaker Notes
Clear, pale yellow color. Intense, complex nose, apricot and red vineyard peach, vegetal notes in the background, mint and lemon balm. Dry, fresh and invigorating acidity, very pronounced minerality, full-bodied, very well balanced, very long finish.

Very bright nose of white peach and lemon zest, together with delicate notes of wild flowers and herbs. Sleek and elegant, but with stacks of stone fruit and citrus and a compact core, this has a wonderful interplay of hardcore minerality and juicy fruit. Very long, ripe and firm finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wagner's 2021 Siefersheim Riesling Porphyr shows a very clear, pure and intense bouquet of crushed stones, herbs, lemon oil, just-ripe pineapples and ripe Riesling berries intertwined with the coolish nuances that make, at least in Germany, the X factor of a great wine. The palate is rather rich and textural but also refined and elegant since this juicy, dense and savory Riesling is lifted by ripe and saline acidity and structured by the mineral base as well as fine tannins. The finish is dry, firm, elegant and balanced yet still that of a very young wine that will gain in finesse with bottle age (and does over three days in the opened bottle).
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
