Deep and very subtle nose with great wild-flower and herb aromas pulls you into this extraordinarily concentrated and refined dry riesling for the village-wine category. In spite of the juiciness on the mid-palate, it’s only just beginning to open up. Breathtaking finish with enormous mineral freshness! From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2020 Siefersheim Riesling Porphyr offers a spectacularly intense yet clear, very refined, characterful and distinctive bouquet of ripe, intense and elegant Riesling and flinty notes. On the palate, this is a medium-bodied, elegant, charmingly round, beautifully balanced and stimulating Siefersheimer Riesling that is absolutely gorgeous even as a soloist. It's not hugely complex but incredibly pleasant and fine. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Rating: 90+
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
