Winemaker Notes

The 2019 Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is brimming with classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon character, with aromas of black cherry, creme de cassis, and blackberries. In the mouth, the wine shows layers of flavors with juicy black cherries, black plum, and a hint of graphite layered with smooth, creamy tannins that support and sustain the wine’s extroverted flavors.

Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, powerful wine. Big, brawny tannins wrap around a core of black fruit, spice, leather and menthol. This strapping, brooding Chiles Valley Cabernet delivers plenty of impact. It is perhaps a bit rustic, but full of character at the same time.

This classic-style, well-structured and complex wine holds deep black olive, black cherry and tobacco flavors in a comfortable grip of tannins, giving it great balance and potential longevity. Best from 2025–2035.

Cherries, plums, dried herbs, earth, charred bark and baking spices on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with powdery tannins. Concentrated, yet fresh and juicy with a flavorful finish. Drink after 2022.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
