The premier bottling of 2013 Uppercut Merlot brims with a red currant, black cherry and dark plum character, accented by seductive nuances of spice and chocolate. The sumptuous red and black-fruit flavors expand across the palate in layers of textured velvet. Hints of vanilla and dried spice from oak aging add evenmore complexity to the long, rich finish.
With its softer structure and enticing fruitiness, this Merlot makes a versatile companion to both red and white meats. Great pairings include rack of lamb accompanied by mashed potatoes with truffleoil, roast turkey with hazelnut stuffing, forest mushroom risotto, or grilled, garlicky skirt steak.
Uppercut has sourced their 2010 Uppercut Cabernet from the entire length of Napa Valley for layers of flavors and impeccable balance. Almost half of the grapes came from Rutherford, in the heart of Napa Valley, and another quarter from Calistoga and St. Helena to the north.
